Partner Spotlight: Chefski
Chefski focused on putting the finishing touches on a delicious final dish of lamb chops.
Aric (as owner/operator of Ash Blaeds) has been hand sharpening Chefski’s knives for years, so when we approached them with the idea of a Fantasy Feast partnership, it was a match made in the Seven Heavens of Mount Celestia. The Chefski team, made up of Adam and Shelby Laskowski, has the Personal Chef game in Indy nailed down. From intimate dinners in customer homes to large-scale catering for our civil servants at State-sponsored events, they can scale up or down and bring their well-honed Hoosier flair to any dinner occasion. When hosting events themselves, from cooking classes to private dinners, they have a cozy, stand-alone kitchen on their property in Fishers just north of Ritchey Woods. When we sat down to design our first Fantasy Feast dinner with them, Chef’s eyes lit up like Dancing Lights: “I have a local mushroom guy and we can get some foraged ramps for the first part,” and, “I have some ideas about what we’ll find in that larder.” In no time he had a fantastic menu fit for adventurers whipped up.
On the day of our first adventure together, they told us, “We’ve pulled out all the stops for this” and by the gods were they right. A full suit of armor and a throne stood in one corner while the rest of the room was all decked out with candles and medieval decor. The fantastical ambiance was perfected with ambient lighting and adventuring music. The incredible, custom menu sat all laid out with a charcuterie board and plenty of fresh drinks. I called Cavan, our other co-founder, and said, “Dude, wait ‘til you see this place, it looks like a freaking castle.”
Just some players having a mid-adventure laugh in Chefski’s castle-fied personal kitchen.
Running the game was a blast, as always, but to bring a little extra fun, Chefski got into character as the Legendary Jynx the Monger, purveyor at the Golden Dragon Inn and host of Fantasy Feast. Shelby joined in the cosplay as well as Jynx’s high-elven partner Lady Gwendoline, she hustled about with maximum hospitality, keeping everyone’s cups and bellies full. As gracious hosts to our adventuring party, they hit every dish perfectly from taste, to visual, to timing. By the end, all enemies slain, all food devoured, and a bevy of cups thrust into the air in victory, our party was already asking when they could come back for another Chefski experience and about their next quest as new Realm Wardens.
